Brenna is an aerialist and acrobat specialising in aerial hoop and standing on her friends. She draws inspiration from her background in science, the world around her, and the connections that can be created between performers and the audience.
Brenna started circus in Fremantle at Circus WA before finally completing the running away part of joining the circus in 2015 when she moved to the UK to study at Circomedia. While at Circomedia Brenna’s studies focused on aerials and acrobatics and also included physical theatre, movement, dance and choreography. Since then Brenna has been based between Australia and the UK, performing, teaching and taking any opportunity to learn something new. This has included learning from some of the world’s best at events such as the Irish Aerial Dance Festival, Berlin Aerial Arts Festival, Bristol Acro Convention, and The West Australian Circus Festival. Despite 3 months of compulsory classes she is still a terrible juggler.
In 2019 Brenna teamed up with engineer turned circus artist Ben from Yip Yip Circus to realise her science circus show dreams. The result was CRITICAL which was awarded the FRINGEWORLD 2019 West Australian Circus Award. This has led Brenna to start down the path of creating more of her own work, including a stand alone lecture/performance piece The Physics of Spinning. Now based back in her home town of Fremantle, Brenna is back where it all started at Circus WA, either doing her favourite thing of training and creating with her friends, or passing on her love of circus to the next generation.
